The New York Rangers will once again be battling the New York Islanders tonight at Madison Square Garden.

NHL Insider Vince Mercogliano has released projected lineups for tonight against the Isles.
With Artemi Panarin out, the Rangers will have to account for that void in which Peter Laviolette has placed Brennan Othmann in Breadman's spot.
It seems unlikely that Othmann will make the opening night roster, even though it is his 6th preseason game tonight.
While the fourth line sees Adam Edstrom, taking Jimmy Vesey's spot while he's out on an undisclosed injury.
Matthew Robertson slots in next to Braden Schneider on the 3rd pair as well, though it doesn't assure him of a roster spot. He could still end up on waivers.
Victor Mancini and Connor Mackey look to be practicing as extras and could Mancini end up on the lineup?
He could find a slot in the lineup even though Robertson is getting time on Game 6 tonight, as Ryan Lindgren and Chad Ruhwedel will be out for some time.
This literally could be the opening night lineup, but nothing is certain for now.
Forever Blueshirts expands upon the thought:
Rangers coach Peter Laviolette is by and large going with his opening-night lineup Friday for the only time in the preseason. Of course, he'd prefer Panarin to be able to play Wednesday against the Pittsburgh Penguins, and the Nos. 6 and 7 defensemen still need to be decided upon.
But you'll see Zibanejad with Kreider and Reilly Smith; Filip Chytil will center for Kaapo Kakko and Will Cuylle; and Sam Carrick will be between Matt Rempe and Edstrom, with Jimmy Vesey out a few weeks with a lower-body injury.

The defense combinations might still be in flux, but regulars K'Andre Miller, Jacob Trouba, Fox, Jones and Schneider will all play. As will No. 1 goalie Igor Shesterkin.

Will the Rangers with a new-look defeat the Isles and Ilya Sorokin tonight?
