Rangers insider reveals two major players could end up in New York
The New York Rangers and general manager Chris Drury have $11.11 million in cap space and they have to make the best of it.
While most options are listed at bargain prices, there is one dream option that could help boost the Rangers in the post-season. However some players have emerged that could bring value at an affordable price.
The Rangers are desperately in need of a hard hitting player to set the tone during crucial moments. Joshua could just be the guy to help outmuscle teams and make it past the Eastern Conference Finals next season.
According to sources like Alexander MacClean of Dobber Hockey, Joshua's next contract could be an affordable $2.360 Million AAV.
Joshua might not be the best option for the Rangers top line as he only managed 32 points( 18 G, 14 A) in 63 Games, with a plus/minus of +19, with the Vancouver Canucks.
But he could be a legitimate secondary-scoring addition on the bottom six for the Rangers. He also plays a bruising game, like Matt Rempe as he was generous with hits during the season, totaling 319.
Steven Stamkos just may be past his prime, but he could definitely be a great veteran addition. His last contract was $8.5 million AAV during the latter part of his career, his AVV could be lower than the last two seasons where he only earned $6.5 million AVV.
Stamkos would be considered a dream pickup, as he's likely to re-sign with the Tampa Bay Lightning, but only time will tell.
The Rangers could be on Stamkos' shortlist, should he be available as a free agent, only a series away from a Stanley Cup Finals appearance.
