Nottingham Panthers pay special tribute to Adam Johnson after tragic incident
In 2023, a tragic incident occurred in the Elite Ice Hockey League in England, where former NHL player and Nottingham Panthers forward, Adam Johnson lost his life due to an on ice incident.
This horrible incident happened after another player from the Sheffield Steeler's, Matt Petgrave tumbled and accidentally sliced Johnson's neck with his skate.
Causing a stir in the hockey community, regarding neck protection being mandatory.
Now, more than half a year later, the Nottingham Panthers are paying a special tribute to Johnson by honouring his name with a on-ice graphic.
Since this incident there have many discussions about neck guard protection, and if leagues will make it mandatory for players to wear neck guards.
However, some leagues have made that decision but other major leagues like the NHL have not.
