The hockey community is being invited to Columbus, as the Blue Jackets will hold a special ceremony for Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau.

Nationwide Arena, will be holding a special event for fans of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, as they will be honoring the brothers who were killed after being struck by a driver on their bicycles. The Columbus Blue Jackets are organizing the event and will focus on the Gaudreau brothers.
The Blue Jackets have announced a candlelight vigil for the brothers on September 4th, which will take place outside of Nationwide Arena and will honor the brothers timed by Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau's jersey numbers.
"The Columbus Blue Jackets invite fans to a candlelight vigil in remembrance of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau on Wednesday, September 4 at 7:30 p.m. ET. The vigil will be held on the Front Street Plaza outside the east entrance to Nationwide Arena.

The vigil will include brief remarks from the Blue Jackets organization, as well as 13:21 of silent remembrance reflecting the number 13 Johnny wore with the Blue Jackets, Calgary Flames and Boston College and the number 21 that Matthew wore at Boston College."
There have been several impromptu memorials popping up since the brother's untimely death. They were planning on attending their sister's wedding, but their life was cut short by a selfish driver. Flames fans left Skittles and purple Gatorade outside of the Saddledome, which were some of Johnny's favorite snacks. Gaudreau was drafted by the Flames in 2011 and would sign with the Blue Jackets in 2022.
Sean Higgins, the National Guard member who was working at a Rehab Center, was charged with killing the Gaudreau's. He is currently in custody at the Salem County Correctional Facility. He has been placed on leave due to his arrest.
