Tragic news strikes as former Pittsburgh Penguins forward passes away at 66
Tragic news strikes the hockey community as former Pittsburgh Penguins player has tragically passed away.
Former Pittsburgh Penguins first round draft pick, Mike Meeker has sadly passed at the at age of 66-years old.
The NHL Alumni Association confirmed this saddening news on Wednesday:
Meeker was drafted 25th overall in the 1978 NHL Entry Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins, where he only played four games with the organization. However he continued his career throughout many destinations in North America, with the NCAA, OHL, AHL and then some time in Sweden.
Meeker who is mainly known for his impact on the community, as he a coach, mentor and even volunteered in multiple areas, and provided young athletes with guidance.
