Braden Schneider issues an unexpected statement towards the Senators before upcoming game
The New York Rangers faced the Washington Capitals 5-3, despite Igor Shesterkin's heroics. They'd allow Alex Ovechkin to add two more goals towards 894 and eventually 895 when he finally does beat Wayne Gretzky's record.
But after practice yesterday defenseman Braden Schneider was asked about the game against the Senators.
Schneider feels that the Rangers have prepared themselves to face, a "Good Ottawa Senators team".
I don't know if you can consider them "good" but they're 5-4-0 in the Atlantic Division, which doesn't seem so tough compared to 2023-2024.
They will have to contend with Claude Giroux and shut him down so he doesn't continue his points streak.
"Yeah, I mean, our line is connecting," Giroux said after Tuesday night's 8-1 win over the St. Louis Blues. "And it's our first time playing together, all three of us, so we're having fun out there where we feel like we have a little chemistry going right now. But in saying that, we're just trying to help the team. And if that's playing good defence or scoring goals, we're trying to do that."
Schneider and the company will have to consider Giroux as prime enemy number one, and they'll have to solve the puzzle of Linus Ullmark who is the current hot hand in Ottawa.
Ullmark has played 5 games, won 2, and has a 2.76 GAA, and a .904 save percentage.
The Rangers will have to contend with a Senators team that has beaten the Vegas Golden Knights, who are considered one of the top teams in the Western Conference.
Now can they prove it to the fans they're up to the task?
Schneider has played 9 games for the Rangers this season, on the bottom pair with rookie Victor Mancini.
He's scored 4 points( 2 G, 2 A) with a +8 and will need to keep up that kind of play to keep the Rangers successful the rest of the season.
