According to recent reports the New York Rangers are expected to be very busy at the NHL trade deadline, as several players will likely be on their way out of the organization. Especially if the New York Rangers fail to secure a playoff spot this year.

The two defenseman who will likely be moved is Ryan Lindgren and Zac Jones and if that happens the Rangers will have to fill those spots. However they aren't looking for any rentals.
According to Rangers insider Vincent Z. Mercogliano
"The Rangers are on the hunt for any pieces they see as multi-year fits in the lead-up to the deadline."

Three non-rental defenseman that the New York Rangers and GM Chris Drury are targeting

Jamie Oleksiak, Seattle Kraken
First on the list is Jamie Oleksiak of the Seattle Kraken. The New York Rangers are looking to add more size to there left side, and the 6'7» defensemen would certainly help them do that. Oleksiak carries a $4.6M cap hit through next season.
He has managed to log 19 minutes a game or slightly more in his last five season, he blocks a ton of shots, and isn't scared to use his size to his advantage as he lays a fair number of hits. Unfortunately this year he has seen a decrease with just 44 hits in 57 games.
Carson Soucy, Vancouver Canucks
Second on the list is another giant, Carson Soucy who stands at 6'5». Soucy would be a bit of a cheaper opinion for the New York Rangers as he only carries an another year on his deal, with a $3.25M cap hit. He is also a left-shot defenseman, so if Lindgren was to get traded, he's be a perfect replacement.
The 30-year-old had a nice first season in Vancouver last year, but has struggled this season, as he only has 2 goals and 6 assists through 54 games played. However the Canucks have made him available after landing Marcus Pettersson from Pittsburgh.
Mario Ferraro, San Jose Sharks
And finally, 26-year-old defenseman Mario Ferraro. Despite being a smaller alternative than the first two on this list. He does use the body, considering he has tallied 117 hits thus far this season in 57 games.
Ferraro has logged over 20 minutes a season over the last five years for the Sharks, and also comes with one more season on his $3.25M AAV.
