Flyers top prospect Matvei Michkov to make his debut against the New York Rangers
The New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers will be going head-to-head in the annual Rookie Series at PPL Arena.
The Rangers and Flyers rookies will face each other Friday, September 13th and 7:05PM and Saturday September 14th at 5:05PM.
Jim Brooks of the President of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms released a statement regarding the event:
«We take pride in bringing exciting events to Downtown Allentown, and this one is extra special - the opportunity to host two of the best NHL organizations and showcase their top prospects right here in PPL Center,» said Lehigh Valley Phantoms President Jim Brooks. «We want to thank the Flyers and Rangers for coming to the Valley, and we know our venue and community will provide their players with a warm welcome as they take this important step in their playing careers.»
New York Rangers rookie Brennan Othmann will most likely be attending these two games, as he's currently trying to secure a roster spot with the Rangers.
It will definitely be interesting to see how the rookie does considering he's matched up against other rookies.
Just last season the 21-year old managed to record 21 goals, 28 assists for a total of 49 points in 67 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack.
However, on the opposing team, rookie forward Matvei Michkov will be making his NHL debut with the Flyers.
The 19-years old was drafted 7th overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, and spent the last season in the KHL.
During his time in the KHL, with HL Sochi he tallied 19 goals, 22 assists for a total of 41 points in 47 games.
