Gary Bettman announces the 2028 World Cup of Hockey: Ft. several New York Rangers stars
NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman has just announced a significant announcement that will affect all players throughout the National Hockey League, including the New York Rangers and their players.
On Wednesday night right before the first game of the 4 Nations Face-Off between Team Canada and Team Sweden, Gary Bettman announced that the World Cup of Hockey will officially start in 2028.
For the last serval months now, there has been speculation around a 2028 World Cup of Hockey, with reports indicating that the National Hockey League are looking to host the event without the involvement of the IIHF.
On Wednesday with the first day of the Four Nations, Gary Bettman officially made it official, revealing the next World Cup of Hockey will be hosted in 2028, and will work every two years outside of the Olympic Games.

Olympics and World Cup are going to rotate every two years starting in 2026 Olympics, 2028 WCH, 2030 Olympics, 2032 WCH, etc.
Locations TBD, bids will be solicited by NHL/NHLPA.
Along with that, it was revealed that there will be no 'Team Europe' or 'Team North America' but instead will be just nations, leaving Gary Bettman promising that there will be at least eight nations competing in the event.
The very obvious teams that will be there, is United States, Canada, Sweden, Finland, then it's very likely we will see Russia return to the international games, then along with Slovakia, Switzerland and the Czech Republic.
However, Gary Bettman didn't provide much details for the event, which will start three years from now and continue every four years, but considering all the excitement of the NHL's return to the Olympic Games this decision was a no-brainer.
It will definitely be exciting to see the players of the New York Rangers who were excluded from the 4 Nations Face-Offf represent their countries in the World Cup of Hockey.
