It was revealed in an interview that Rangers starting goalie Igor Shesterkin has expressed his gratitude towards backup Jonathan quick and felt that he should have been chosen for the 2024 All Star game.

«I was actually so skeptical about this because I understood that I don't deserve to be there Well, in my understanding, it should've been Quick,» Shesterkin said. «It was psychologically hard for me that I didn't deserve it and so on, the percentage of saved shots when I was an All-Star was 89 percent.»
The tandem of quick and Chesterton became one of the most dominant goalie tandems in the NHL as Quick stepped in and saved the Rangers season when Shesterkin faltered between December and January.
It wasn't till the All Star break that Shesterkin managed to find his game again and went on an incredible run down the stretch and played brilliantly during the playoffs. Unfortunately, the Rangers met the Florida Panthers and went down in the third round.
The question now remains on what the Rangers will pay for Shesterkin's services as he will be eligible for a contract extension. Some pundits including Elliot Friedman of the 32 thoughts podcast think that Shesterkin will be the highest paid goaltender in the NHL which could be north of 10 million per season.
Shesterkin played 58 games this season's past and held a record of 36-17-2 with 2.58 goals against and a save percentage of .913.
General manager Chris Drury along with his management team will have to figure out how much they are willing to pay and it will become a hot button topic for the Rangers going into next season.
