New York Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette releases an update regarding defenseman Ryan Lindgren's injury.

Ryan Lindgren suffered an upper-body injury after fighting the New York Islander's Scott Mayfield, and would later be listed week-to-week by the New York Rangers as he was placed on Injured Reserve.

As the New York Rangers took to the ice this morning for their practice before tonight's game against the Detroit Red Wings, Ryan Lindgren joined the team and was wearing a regular jersey, but remains in a full face shield. As reported by Mollie Walker of the New York Post:

Ryan Lindgren skating in a regular jersey at #NYRmorning skate. Still in a full face shield.

He's still on IR, but a good sign for the defenseman.

However, after the practice came to an end, head coach Peter Laviolette commented on Lindgren's status, along with stated there is no update on a return date for the defenseman.

Laviolette said "Nothing has changed on his status" regarding Lindgren, but added, "It's great to see him out there." So, not much info as far as possible return date. #NYR

Definitely not the type of update fans were hoping for, as the Rangers have really been struggling on the defensive end, especially after a tough 6-5 loss to the Utah Hockey Club on Saturday.
