New York Rangers divisional rivals star player gets his antics brutally called out by one of the National Hockey League's biggest star.
Philadelphia Flyers youngster Matvei Michkov was just brutally called out by his idol, Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals.
Without a doubt Michkov has a bright future in the NHL but according to Ovechkin the youngster needs to do this one thing to truly impress him and many others.
The 19-year old Russian had a ton of hype surrounding him as he joined the league at the beginning of the 2024/25 season, and he has truly reached expectations as he is currently Ranked #4 on the NHL's top 10 rookie ratings.
However, it hasn't been all great as he has been involved in several altercations with his head coach John Tortorella, as he is not a fan of Michkov's flashy style of play and seems to be stuck in his old-school ways.
Here's the heated exchange between John Tortorella and Matvei Michkov after the first Islanders goal.
Now, Michkov's idol Alex Ovechkin's has called him out for his on ice antics in a recent interview, along with praising the former first-round draft pick. Here's what Ovechkin had to say:
"Michkov is a great guy; he's doing well. He played against us recently, so I got to see him. But I wish he would show off a little less. Otherwise, everything is great."
