It's been a turbulent year for the New York Rangers and Mika Zibanejad Who received a great report from the team that he was named player of the week with strong stats over the last five games.

Mika Zibanejad is your «Player of the Week.»

With the recent trade in addition of former Rangers star J.T. Miller, and a calmness that has surrounded the Rangers dressing room after a dreadful stretch of hockey in November and December it appears that Zibanejad has begun to find his game again it has been effective against his opponents.

Miller will make Zibanejad a better player for that line

During a recent episode on the daily face off, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk spoke about the trade and what it has done to the Rangers and Zibanejad's game.
It just takes so much pressure off, right? No longer does Mika Zibanejad have to be the driver. He can go back to being a complementary piece, and a really well paid and expensive one at that.

But when he is on, he is incredibly productive. Not only that, but the biggest glaring weakness was that Zibanejad, in my opinion, couldn't play the style that they needed for a center, in that role. Frank Seravalli Daily Faceoff

Yaremchuk speaks about how the power play has been bolstered with Miller's addition and how Zibanejad Has moved over to the right wing and has made a difference in his game.
I don't know if you want to call it an unintended ripple effect of this - Zibanejad has played since moving over to the right wing, he has six points in three games.

Man, that's a really nice perk for the Rangers. Yes, you added J.T. Miller, and holy crap, you basically added back the old Mika Zibanejad. Tyler Yaremchuk Daily Faceoff

Rangers ready for downtime at NHL two-week shutdown

With all that has gone on with the Rangers this year, this team like every other team in the NHL is looking forward to their two week shutdown as it's been a grind for many teams with a very heavy schedule.
It will give players time to heal their wounds, spend some time with their families an enjoy the Four Nations face off tournament which will take place on February 12 through February 20th.
Vincent Trocheck was asked about the chemistry of Chris Kreider and Mika Zibanejad shorthanded: "Obviously they've been playing together for 46 years, so they definitely have some chemistry"

General manager Chris jury will also get a chance to evaluate what has happened with the Rangers and decide which direction he'd like to take the team going into the March trade deadline.
Whether the Rangers are buyers or sellers, or both remains to be seen but it's likely they will be active as several of their unrestricted free agents will be available for trade.
It will be interesting times for the Rangers and the fanbase in the coming weeks.
