It's been several weeks since general manager Chris Drury had placed Barclay Goodrow on waivers in an effort to clear cap space at one Rangers star forward has weighed in on his view of the move by his general manager.

Rangers star Chris Kreider spoke to Peter Baugh of the Athletic about the move and felt that he felt sad that the player was moved on to the San Jose Sharks he also understands that this is part of the business of hockey and that moves like these aren't necessary to help the team improve.

"It's difficult to articulate," he said Thursday, per The Athletic's Peter Baugh. "That's the awful side of our business, I guess: That it is a business. ... It's a friend for life, but it's a guy you expected to be suiting up with again."

Rumors had begun to swirl that jury was about to make a major move to his lineup and many NHL ers, pundits and other general manners did not expect him to place a player who had the San Jose Sharks on his no trade list on waivers. The bold move paid off as the sharks had claimed him with full salary and helped shed $3.6 million for the next three seasons off the Rangers payroll.

The Rangers are coming off a 55 game winning season which is a record for the team and having gone 3 rounds of playoffs and coming up short certainly means the team does not require too many changes. There's only so much a general manager can do with what he has available. The Goodrow waiver move we'll gather much attention by other general managers.

It remains to be seen on whether anyone else will attempt this kind of move again.
