NHL insider proposes a ridiculous one-for-one trade involving New York Rangers first overall draft pick

According to a recent report from Larry Brooks of the New York Post, he proposed a ridiculous one-for-one trade in his latest column.

Larry Brooks proposed a one-for-one trade that would send New York Rangers former first overall draft pick Alexis Lafrenière to the Anaheim Ducks in return for their former ninth overall draft pick Trevor Zegras.

Since the 23-year old Alexis Lafreniere joined the New York Rangers back in the 2020-21 season he has played in 353 and has managed to tally 89 goals and 91 assists for a total of 180 points during his five years with the organization.

Ever since Trevor Zegras joined the Anaheim Ducks in the 2020-21 season ha has played in 243 games and managed to tally 61 goals and 108 assists for a total of 169 points in his five year span.

Just based on these stats above, this proves to be a risky trade for the New York Rangers and General Manager Chris Drury as Zegras has seen a significant decrease in production over the years. Especially if you just look at this year's performance, Zegras has 15 points (6 G, 9 A), while Laf has 32 points (14 G, 18 A).
