Recent reports have surfaced that reveal the New York Rangers were close to acquiring veteran forward Scott Laughton from their divisional rivals the Philadelphia Flyers last season in a trade that failed.

Recently the New York Rangers and General Manager Chris Drury have been active with making trades this season.
Two other veterans that were also surrounded by trade speculation is, Chris Kreider and Mika Zibanejad.
Zibanejad, has surprisingly turned his season around and is one of the league's top scorers in February with 13 points in nine games. Meanwhile, Chris Kreider was put on injured reserve on Saturday, making him tougher to sell to interested buyers.

New York Rangers to circle back on last season's failed trade?

The New York Rangers were hoping to add some players with term, and name to watch could be Scott Laughton, who was nearly acquired last season by the Rangers organization. After reports have surfaced revealing that the trade ended up failing.
Laughton currently holds a cap hit of $3 Million AAV and still has one-year remaining on his deal, but he's still receiving a lot of interest. It's been reported that the Flyers are looking for a first-round pick, something the Rangers can no longer afford after dealing one away in the J.T. Miller trade.
With that being said there is only 72 hours until the deadline, so all eyes will be on Chris Drury and Rangers to see what kind of deals they can work out to better their odds at a deep playoff run.
