The New York Rangers have a plan for the trade deadline, and for GM Chris Drury it is looking like a quick retool. He's worked quickly to move out multiple players like Kaapo Kakko, Jacob Trouba, Ryan Lindgren, and Jimmy Vesey, could Chris Kreider be next?

The New York Rangers have finally begun to retool the lineup, as it seems the core as it's been constructed cannot be trusted to finish the job.
GM Chris Drury has instead opted to trade major pieces and could move more as Reilly Smith has been held out of the lineup tonight.
Now, could Kreider be moved next?
«He's been in the rumor mill for trades this season and while nothing has materialized in the past, the former 30-goal-scoring forward could find a new home depending on who could utilize his talents.

«Obstacles could be his $6.5 million dollar contract which has two years left, and a 15-team no-trade clause.»

Kreider could be an easy addition to a contending team's roster, as he offers the ability to get in the dirty areas on the power play.
And while he's not shooting at the same percentage the last three 30+ goal seasons, a fresh start could give him new life.
While he's sitting on the IR, it'll give him a chance to recover from a nagging back injury and allow Drury to work the phones for an optimal landing spot.
That is if he is indeed on the trade block.
«NYR are placing Chris Kreider on IR, which is the reason for the Berard recall. It's not a back injury, I'm told, and it's retroactive, so he can be activated at any time,» Mercogliano wrote.

In the long-run New York is all Kreider has ever known in the NHL, wearing the Rangers crest for 13 years.
It'll be heartbreaking to see him leave Madison Square Garden should be traded, but he deserves a shot at a Stanley Cup.
The Rangers need to reshape the lineup entirely to give themselves a chance as well.
The Rangers play the Islanders tonight, as Patrick Roy looks to move the Isles out of the dumpster and back onto Long Island.
