Some general managers are all in and will push their chips to the middle as they feel their team is ready for a long run through the playoffs to the Stanley Cup.
Other GM's feel that they would rather wait till the summer to make their deals to improve their team for next season and either stand pat or consider selling off some of their assets to recuperate draft picks and prospects as their player's contracts are expiring.
Thedailyfaceoff.com released a ranking system on all general managers in the
league and how they may conduct their business on March 8th.
As expected, the website feels that Drury will be ranked at the top as a general manager willing to wheel and deal to make his team better and to go all in as the Rangers are currently in a win now scenario.
He has navigated a couple of trade deadlines and has been aggressive in both and if he can find the right price for moving his first rounder this year, I would expect him to do so.
The Rangers have needs that need to be met including a third line centre, bottom 6 scoring while adding a possible defenceman for depth.
It remains to be seen on how he will proceed but if history shows us, he is not afraid to make a deal if he feels it makes the Rangers better.
