New York Rangers forward Matt Rempe was ejected from Friday's night game against Dallas for elbowing Stars defenseman Miro Heiskanen in the head.
The hit occurred just right before the midway mark of the third period, and unfortunately Rempe was handed a five-minute Major and a game misconduct, while Heiskanen headed down the tunnel to the Stars locker room
Matt Rempe has just returned to the New York Rangers lineup tonight for the first time since November 25th as Chris Drury was looking to shake things up for the Rangers roster.
Which clearly seemed to work as the struggling New York Rangers managed to pull off a 3-1 victory, thanks to goal scorers Reilly Smith, Vincent Trocheck and Chris Kreider with an empty net goal.
Unfortunately for Matt Rempe this type of hit is more than likely to be reviewed by the NHL Department of Player Safety, as it was a high hit to the back of the head.
However, Rempe's fate won't be known until tomorrow, whether the NHL player Safety deems this hit to be suspendible or just a fine.
But with his recorded and being suspended for 4 games last season for elbowing New Jersey Devils defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler in the head, it's like going to be another suspension.
