The trade winds and rumors continue to flow around the New York Rangers as a new name islinked to the Blueshirts which is defenseman Ivan Provorov of the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Provorov has been in the trade rumor mill for the past several months as it appears the Columbus Blue Jackets are prepared to move him to acquire offense. It's clear the Rangers and the Blue Jackets share mutual interest as the latest rumors suggest a one for one deal between Provorov and Rangers former first round pick Kappo Kakko.

Rangers general manager Chris Drury shopped Kakko to the NHS over the course of the summer to change the dynamic of his offense. As incentive, he signed Kakko to a
one-year deal worth $2.4 million to give cost certainty to NHL teams.

Unfortunately, there were no takers, and he remains on the Rangers squad. It's safe to say that Kakko is in a dire need for a change of scenery which could ignite his offence as he was an original second overall pick by the Rangers.

Kakko currently has played 27 games this year, scoring four goals with 10 assists for 14 points in the plus 10. He would certainly attract general manager Don Waddell and head coach Dean Evason.

This rash of news and trade rumors that have been flying around the Rangers are an attempt to retool the team as they currently sit eight overall in the Eastern Conference. After moving Jacob Trouba last weekend, the Rangers currently hold $8 million in cap space but with the deadline cap it will be closer to $21 million unless other trades come to fruition.

It's becoming clear that the Rangers will be one of the busiest teams in the NHL when it comes to trades especially as the March trade deadline approaches. They're still hold a playoff spot and would like to continue to rise back in the standings.

Time will tell on how the Rangers will attempt to move Kakko but a straight up deal between both the Blue Jackets in the Rangers for both players is certainly feasible and worth exploring.
