This year's free agency period has been successful for many teams, but unfortunately not so much for the New York Rangers as general manager Chris Drury didn't make many moves.
In result all the big names that the were on the Rangers radar this summer have already been claimed, however there is still a few top free agents left on the Market, that could really add some depth to the Rangers roster.
The 27-year old forward, was the former second round (46th overall) draft pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
Sprong spent last season with the Detroit Red Wings, tallying 18 goals and adding 25 assists for a total of 43 points over 76 regular season games.
Sprong only had a 1 year deal with the Red Wings that carried an AAV and salary cap hit of $2 million last season, and may be looking for a slight raise during free agency, and could definitely be a great fit for the Rangers lineup.
Despite James Van Riemsdyk being 35-years old, he proved he can still be a valuable asset after producing 11 goals and 27 assist for a total of 37 points with the Boston Bruins last season, and finished the season with a +/- rating if +7.
JVR could be a very team-friendly option, as he just finished a 1 year contract with an average annual value and salary cap hit of just $1 million for last season.
With not many options available, Tyler Johnson is up next.
Johnson put up some solid numbers last season with the Chicago Blackhawks, producing 17 goals and add 14 assists for a total of 31 points over 67 regular season games, Johnson always add veteran presence to the locker room with two Stanley Cups on his resume.
These three players are relatively cheap options for the New York Rangers to acquire however, the question still stands will Chris Drury make a move for any one of them?
