Will Captain Jacob Trouba's streak continue tonight in Detroit?

Jacob Trouba has surprised us all at the start of the 2024-2025 NHL season, as Trouba has been relevant and an offensive force for the season.

Of course, the Captain was subject to rumors of a trade in the off-season to his hometown Detroit Red Wings, but those were quickly shot down, as Trouba intends to stay in New York through this season.

In 3 games, the Captain has scored 4 points( 4 A) with the Rangers and looks like he's ready to continue the domination tonight against the Wings.

The Wings haven't had a great backstop in net, as Alex Lyon, and Cam Talbot haven't been playing as advertised this season.

So, what went wrong for the Wings, and how can they fix this early-season marginal play? For one, they don't need to panic, as it's early in the year and despite averaging 2.3 goals per game, and allowing 3.3, there's a lot of hockey left in the campaign.

That isn't a part of the Yzerplan honestly, the defense is weak and the Rangers have the capability to score by committee.

Which Jacob Trouba now is a part of and while he hasn't scored a goal yet he's playing the Captain which the Rangers have shelled out an $8 Million AAV.

If the Wings cannot mount a successful defense against the Rangers, we should expect to see Trouba once again contributing to the Rangers' success in the early season.

This could help the Rangers come within a breath of the New Jersey Devils who are at the top of the Metropolitan Division currently.

But the Rangers will have to prove themselves against more than just mediocre teams, like the Detroit Red Wings.

A true test of Trouba and the Rangers will be to overcome their Eastern Conference rivals, in the Florida Panthers.

For now, the Rangers are off to a great start, and Trouba has found his home on the 2nd pairing for the team.

Braden Schneider and Jacob Trouba have proven themselves to be reliable and it doesn't seem like Peter Laviolette should change this pairing, at least for now.
