On Thursday October 3rd, 17 players were placed in the waiver wire with the opening night roster date quickly approaching, among these 17 players are two former first-rounders.
In just under a week, teams throughout the National Hockey League will submit their final roster for opening night, and in order to clear up their roster they assign players to minors, the waiver wire.
Without a doubt this upcoming week will be a busy one for the waiver wire, however these 17 players have until today(Friday) @ 2PM ET to be claimed or if they'll be assigned to the American Hockey League. The San Jose Sharks get the first crack at making a waiver claim as they finished last in the NHL in the 2023-24 season, and will get this privilege until November 1st.
