59-players land on waivers just 24 hours before roster submission deadline
59 players throughout the National Hockey League have been placed in the waiver wire on Sunday, October 6th, with roughly 24 remaining until the NHL's opening night roster submission deadline.
On Monday, October 7th, all the teams of the National Hockey League will need to submit their rosters for opening night and for many of these teams this means assigning some players to the minors through the waiver wire.
According to a recent report from PuckPedia, on October 6th, a total of 59 players were placed on waivers for the purpose of being assigned to the American Hockey League(AHL).
Among those on the waiver wire was Matthew Robertson of the New York Rangers, along with several former first-round picks such as Jakob Pelletier of the Calgary Flames.
This group of players that ended up on waivers today, will have to wait until 2PM on Monday to see if anyone has claimed them or if they will be assigned to their respective affiliate teams in the AHL.
It's important to note that the San Jose Sharks get first dibs on claiming any of these players off the wire as they finished last in the NHL in the 2023-24 season, and will have first dibs on waiver claims until November 1st.
