Another NHL organization looking to relocate their franchise after 31-years
Another NHL organization on the brink of relocating their franchise after 31 years at current location.
The San Jose Sharks joined the NHL in 1991, and moved into the SAP Center in 1993 and have played their home games there since then.
However, there appears to a relocation on the horizon, as reports suggest the organization will be moving.
The report suggest they would leave the SAP Center but they wouldn't venture too far from San Jose:
Even if the #Sharks 🇺🇸 have to move out of San Jose due to the new SAP Center agreement, they will remain in the Bay Area.
On July 1st, 2025, the San Jose Sharks' arena management agreement with the city of San Jose changes, «unfavorably» for the Sharks, according to the Sharks' president Jonathan Becher.
The top options would likely be San Francisco or Oakland, but the team will push hard to remain in San Jose.
Another report for NHL insider Sheng Peng, reports that the team and the SAP Center's agreement is not working out, as it's not team friendly'.
Without a doubt, If the Sharks were to relocate it would leave many local fans upset.
