The St. Louis Blues organization have shocked the hockey world as they placed former first-round pick, Kasperi Kapanen on waivers.
However, the New York Rangers and general manager Chris Drury have failed to seize the opportunity.
Early in 2024-25 season, head coach Drew Bannister has been changing up his lines trying to find the right fit for every player but nothing seems to be working for the Blues.
Ultimately leading them to making the decision to waive former-first round pick, Kasperi Kapanen.
Beloved Sportsnet host and NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman, was the first to break the news with the following post on X, formerly known as Twitter:
The 28-year-old forward has lots of potential as he was drafted 22nd overall back in the 2014 by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Not even a day after Elliotte Friedman has announced that an organization as seen the potential Kapanen offers and claimed him off waivers, that organization being the Edmonton Oilers.
So far this season the Kapanen has been limited to one goal, as he has only played ten games and is usual a healthy-scratch by the Blues. Making it an easy choose for the organization to figure out who was going to be placed on waivers.
Throughout Kapanen's career, he has managed to score 209 points, including 85 goals in 470 NHL games for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Pittsburgh Penguins, and the St. Louis Blues.
