Usually during the highlights of a game especially after it's over Sportscasters would talk about players having awful injuries that may end their careers or even put them out for long periods of time.
But sometimes, it's the officials who received the brutal injury which happened against the Ottawa Senators and the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday.
With 513 left in the first period, referee Furman South took a puck to the face which dropped him to the ice immediately.
As he laid crumbled on the ice, several players and the trainer came to his aid and managed to escort him off the ice with a large gash across his forehead.
Both the linesmen and the referees are always in the firing line for shots, body checks and all kinds of other potential injuries that could happen. But nothing can be worse than a puck straight to the face.
The good news, after he received attention in the medical Bay at the United center, he was back out on the ice to finish his game in proper hockey fashion.
