A hockey game in the HockeyAllsvenskan between Tingryds AIF & the Nybro Vikings takes a tragic turn as AIF right winger Linus Hedman was rushed to the hospital.

Without a doubt, the game of hockey is dangerous, and everyday this statement just proofs its self as the game between the Nybro Vikings IF and Tingryds AIF had to be halted during the first period when a 24-year old right winger, Linus Herman was hit by a Vikings defender moments after he cleared the puck.

Unfortunately due to the hit, the medical team was required to stretcher Hedman off the ice and into the back of the ambulance before rushing to the hospital for further evaluation.

After the game had ended, the Tingryds AIF released a statement regarding the 24-year olds status:

»Considering the nasty situation that arose in connection with yesterday's match against Nybro, Linus Hedman is now relatively well. X-rays showed that he had suffered a severe concussion. He also needed stitches to the back of his head after the damage he sustained on landing after the impact. At the time of writing, Linus remains at the hospital in Kalmar for observation. Through his partner, Linus says he is incredibly grateful and moved by all the support he has received, both from TAIF supporters and management, but also from Nybro Vikings and their professional handling in connection with the accident.

Now recovery and a lot of rest await Linus before #88 is back on the ice.»

On behalf of everyone here at NY Rangers Insider we wish Linus a speedy recovery and hope he's able to return to the game of hockey.
