Insider reveals intriguing defenseman is placed on trade block: Rangers to make a move?
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman stated that Vancouver Canucks defenseman Vincent Desharnais has been placed on the trade block as the team is looking to find him a new home.
During the 32 Thoughts podcast, Friedman explained that the Canucks and Desharnais have not worked out and that Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin will attempt to make a trade to find him a new landing spot.

Standing at six foot 7 and has considerable mobility maybe an asset that the New York Rangers may look at. Every team in the NHL is always looking for depth defensemen and he currently signed a contract for two years at $2,000,000 AAV.
He's only earned 2 points through 17 games but with his size, he could help the Rangers in the long run as general manager Chris Drury continues to do a makeover of the team.
With the loss of Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks, and the fact the team has a large sum of cap space heading into the trade deadline in March the Rangers could find themselves picking up players like Desharnais who would fit in the bottom 3 defense.
Friedman also mentioned that the Canucks are known to be an aggressive team when it comes to trades and to re making their roster so it's expected that this will not take long and Desharnais will have a new home sooner than later.
