Major suspension incoming after Los Angeles Kings forward Tanner Jeannot receives a match penalty.

A suspension is likely to place after L.A. Kings forward Tanner Jeannot receives a match penalty after laying a brutal open ice headshot on Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser.

Brock Boeser may have just sustained a devastating injury after getting destroyed by the Los Angeles Kings forward Tanner Jeannot who laid a clear open ice headshot, that ultimately led to Jeannot receiving a five minute major and a game misconduct penalty.

Here's a look at the brutal hit:

Tanner Jeannot is handed a match penalty for this hit on Brock Boeser 🤕

Without a doubt the main point of contact was Jeannots shoulder on Boeser's head, usually a hit that will gain the attention of the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety and should lead to further disciplinary action, such as a fine, suspension, or even both.

Boeser was clearly shaken up from this hit as he laid down on the ice waiting for help from the Canucks medical staff, unfortunately he ended up going down the tunnel to locker room for further evaluation.

It was then later confirmed by the Vancouver Canucks and NHL insider Elliotte Friedman that Brock Boeser will not return for the remainder of the game:

Canucks have announced Boeser will not return. Match penalty means automatic NHL review

Canucks F Brock Boeser will not return to tonight's game
