An original six organization has officially fired their head coach after a troubling start to the season.

It was confirmed earlier today that the Boston Bruins have fired their head coach Jim Montgomery.

Unfortunately It was only a matter of time with how the Boston Bruins have been playing this year that a significant move like this would happen.

Rich Keefe was the first to break the news earlier on Tuesday, revealing the Boston Bruins have fired Jim Montgomery, but nothing was confirmed by the organization.

BREAKING FROM #SCOOPSKEEFE: Jim Montgomery is OUT. Joe Sacco will take over as head coach.

There was tons of rumours this season that GM Don Sweeney was looking to make a massive change to the team, and he has officially done that.

The Boston Bruins organization has confirmed the firing of Jim Montgomery

Despite the rumours and speculation, Boston Bruins GM, official confirmed that the team has been relieved Jim Montgomery of his duties as head coach:

Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced today, November 19, that the team has relieved Jim Montgomery of his duties as Head Coach.

Associate Coach Joe Sacco will assume interim head coaching duties.

Definitely a tough situation considering Montgomery's record with the Boston Bruins organization over the last few years.

In 184 games, the #NHLBruins lost just 41 times in regulation under Jim Montgomery.

41 times in 184 games.

120-41-23 record for .715 points percentage.
