The Nashville Predators and Tampa Bay Lightning's preseason game has been canceled due to severe weather conditions in Florida on Sunday, and not makeup date has been released.
On Sunday afternoon, the Nashville Predators announced on their social media platform on X, that their game against the Lightning was canceled due to pending inclement weather:
It still remains unknown if the National Hockey League will reschedule the game, but it's not likely considering the regular season is set to start this week. However, they could still easily squeeze in another game for the two teams before their regular season starts on October 10th for both teams.
Definitely an unfortunate situation for fans who were excited to see Steven Stamkos return to Tamp Bay after signing with the Nashville Predators this offseason.
This is not the first time the NHL has canceled a game due to weather conditions, as a game in 1995 between the San Jose Sharks and Detroit Red Wings was postponed due to a flood, and then three games in 2016 were postponed due to an Eastern cold snap that brought severe weather conditions to places like New York and New Jersey.
Along with the Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators game in 1924 that was postponed for a blizzard.
