After a terrifying moment emerged from the QMJHL,as defenseman Justin Blais suffered a serious injury, he was finally able to reach out to fans and express his gratitude for the support he's received.
During Friday's game between the Baie-Comeau Drakkar and Gatineau Olympiques, Blais got into a scuffle, and took a hard fall, ultimately leading him to hit his head on the ice. The impact caused him to start convulsing, and medical staff rushed in to help.
The situation was so serious that officials ended the game immediately, with Baie-Comeau leading 8-2. However It was clear that Blais's health was the number one priority.
Thankfully, Blais seems to be recovering well from this injury. Later in the night, The Olpmpiques released an update, with the permission of Blais, posting a photo of him giving the thumbs-up, despite him being in a neck brace and several marks on his face.
Definitely great to see Blais in good spires despite the severity of such a scary situation. Huge respect and credit goes out to the medical staff that was onsite for fast and skilled response.
On behalf of everyone here at NY Rangers Insider we wish him a full and speedy recovery, along with sending our best to Justin Blais in hopes he can return to the ice soon.
