The Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers faced off last night for game six of the Stanley Cup Finals, at Rogers Arena in Edmonton, were the home town fans were being disrespectful during the signing of the American Anthem.
Throughout the NHL's history it has been a tradition to sing both national anthems when a Canadian team and an American Team faces each other, and they always start with the visiting team's anthems.
However, during game six of the Stanley Cup Finals the anthem singer started with The Star-Spangled Banner as the Panthers are the visiting team, and many fans in the crowd started chanting "Sergei, Sergei," in an attempt to get insider his head.
Of course Oilers had no remorse for doing this, as they pointed out that Panthers fans booed in Florida when they were singing the Canadian National Anthem, O Canada.
Obviously this doesn't make it right for anyone to chant through any National Anthems, as two wrongs don't make a right.
The Panthers and Oilers will now be heading back to Amerant Bank Arena for game 7, on Monday night at 8:00PM as the winner will be claimed the 2024 Stanley Cup Champions.
