Major Trade For Team In The Eastern Conference Completed
Ilya Lyubushkin is reportedly heading to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Official trade call hasn't happened yet but the deal will see Lyubushkin (50 percent retained by Anaheim) going to Carolina (which retains another 25 percent) then Ilya Lyubushkin to Toronto.
Ducks get a third round pick, the Hurricanes get a sixth round pick for retaining as third party broker.
The Leafs are acquiring Ilya Lyubushkin at a cap hit of $687,500 with double retention, less than the league minimum salary.
That leaves plenty of room for further moves before the March 8 trade deadline.
This explains why Ilya Lyubushkin was out tonight, in the Ducks matchup against the San Jose Sharks.
We will update as more information becomes available.
