Recent reports from Rob Ellis of NHLTR suggest the New York Rangers and Calgary Flames are in talks about a potential trade.

The proposed deal involves the Rangers sending Kaapo Kakko, Braden Schneider, and a 2024 second-round draft pick to the Flames in exchange for Chris Tanev (with 50% salary retained) and Adam Ruzicka.

Tanev, known for his defensive skills, has one goal and seven points in 34 games this season.

Ruzicka, a 24-year-old forward, has recorded 14 goals and 40 points in 106 career games.

If the trade happens, it could impact both teams significantly.

The Rangers would strengthen their roster for a playoff push, gaining Tanev's experience and Ruzicka's potential.

The Flames would acquire Kakko, a former top prospect, Schneider, a promising defenseman, and an extra asset through the draft pick.

Kakko has shown promise with 46 goals and 101 points in 259 games, while Schneider, a 22-year-old former 19th overall pick, has 10 goals, 38 points, and a +11 plus/minus rating in 160 NHL games.

The trade might also bring financial flexibility, aiding the Flames in rebuilding and helping the Rangers manage their salary cap.

Fans eagerly await updates on this potential deal.
