Motte, is signing with the Red Wings for an one-year deal, with an AAV of $800K. Motte has played 400 NHL Games, with the Ottawa Senators, Vancouver Canucks, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers and Tampa Bay Lightning.

He would later be flipped to the Vancouver Canucks for Thomas Vanek in 2018.
Motte has made his name as a defensive forward in the NHL, a penalty killer. Motte's career totals are as follows: 90 points( 49 G, 41 A) and 110 PIMs during his 400 game career.
