There has been tons of speculation of the Winnipeg Jets trading McGroarty, after he stated he will not be re-signing with the Jets.
The Jets seemed to not have as much leverage in this deal, but were able to receive a solid return.
The Winnipeg Jets traded Rutger McGroarty to the Pittsburgh Penguins for their top prospect Brayden Yager, who was drafted 14th overall a year after McGroarty.
The last two seasons, McGroarty played at the University of Michigan where he would manage to tally 34 goals and 57 assists.
Despite his ability to put up points many have pointed out he's a weak skater, but at 19 years old he has plenty of time to improve this skill.
However, Brayden Yager has played his entire career in the WHL with the Warriors and has a total of 250 points (104 goals, 146 assists) in 211 games.
