According to Scott Cullen of the Athletic, He feels that Gabe Perreault, EJ Emery Andrew Fortescue are likely to be members of that USA world junior team.
The most likely of the three to make it to this tournament is Perreault.
He is playing in his second year with Boston College where through 10 games, he has six goals with 10 assists for 16 points and is a + 11. He's the son of former NHLer Yanic Perreault, has shown great promise for the Rangers as he attempts to make it to the team during training camp.
Perreault's teammate Drew Fortescue is the next likely player to make the team. Standing at six foot 2 and 176 lbs, the 19-year-old defenseman was selected by the rangers in 2023, third round 90th overall. He is a two-time gold winning having won the world junior championship of the U18 and the U20.
Finally, EJ Emery is currently playing for the University of North Dakota. The 18-year-old defenseman who stands at six foot 3 and 185 lbs was selected recently by the Rangers in 2024, first round 30th overall.
It remains to be seen on whether he will make the team as there will be many other players throughout the NCAA who could fit the needs of the team itself.
He does have some good attributes as elite prospects com have registered him as a defensive defenseman along with being a mobile defenseman and a penalty kill specialist.
In the coming weeks we will know who will make the team and what it will look like going through the Christmas holidays. In the meantime, the players will continue to play their games and fine tune their skills and to be ready when they're called upon.
