The New York Rangers lost to the Carolina Hurricanes, 4-0 yesterday. Center Vinnie Troecheck, was called out by fans for his lack of finishing effort on a breakaway.

The New York Rangers had a tough time against Rod Brind'Amours' Carolina Hurricanes.
They'd give up 4 goals, while failing to register a point against Frederik Andersen, who isn't in his prime.
One play stuck out to fans, as they called out Vinnie Troecheck's excuse for a lack of finishing effort on a breakaway.
Here you can see him pull ahead of defense Shayne Gostisbehre and instead of shooting the puck, he'd pass it to K'Andre Miller.
A play that lacked any kind of sense, and fans would make sure he knew about it.
The Hurricanes would instead take advantage of the failed play leading to their own breakout afterward.
With Trocheck and Miller out of the picture, Jackson Blake, Mikko Rantanen, and Andrei Svechnikov went tic-tac-toe for an easy goal. What could have been a 1-1 game going into the final frame was flipped to a 2-0 deficit in the blink of an eye. This moment proved to be the turning point of the night.

An appalling lack of accountability from Troecheck on a fumbled play. Giving up a scoring chance like that seems almost cowardly.
It was certainly a game to forget for the Rangers center. He was on the ice for two goals against, and only registered one shot.
His poor play was apparent as he only played 11 minutes of ice time at 5v5, he'd only register an xg% of 44.41. A statistic worse than his two linemates, Artemi Panarin, and Alexis Lafreniere.

While no player is perfect, the Rangers need players like Troecheck to play 100% every night.

That was an example of a player quitting on the ice and fans have called him out as they should have.
