According to NHL Insider Darren Dreger the New York Rangers have reportedly kicked tired on another deal with the Vancouver Canucks. Instead of JT Miller being involved this time, it's elite Center Elias Pettersson.

It appears there's no chance that the New York Rangers will be able to upgrade their top-six forward core this season.
As it seems GM Chris Drury and the Vancouver Canucks have once again failed to seal the deal on elite centerman Elias Pettersson.
The Rangers were reportedly close to acquiring Miller almost two weeks ago before the deal fell through. It appears they're the only club to make a pitch to the Canucks.

This is the third time the two teams have been unable to make a deal happen, beforehand they couldn't make it work with Filip Chytil, and Ryan Lindgren for JT Miller because of a draft pick.
What will we find out this time as the reason? What caused GM Chris Drury to kick tires on Pettersson?
The rift in the Canucks locker room has been an issue for GM Patrik Allvin and Jim Rutherford as they've tried to find a solution.
To no avail, as the price they may be asking could be too high for the Rangers.
«When you don't have chemistry, it's hard to be that consistent team because there's too much going on in the room for everybody to concentrate on what they're supposed to do,» Rutherford said.

The New York Rangers will have to press forward this season without extra help from JT Miller or Elias Pettersson.
How does GM Chris Drury intend to improve the lineup if he won't make an effort to secure Miller or Pettersson? Are draft picks that important if you plan on winning a Stanley Cup?
