The Toronto Maple Leaf's fired their head coach Sheldon Keefe Thursday May 9th 2024 and shortly after hearing the news, insider Nick Barden stated that the New Jersey Devils will be interested in hiring Sheldon Keefe as their head coach.

The New Jersey Devils fired their head coach Lindy Ruff back in March of 2024 and have had Travis Green as their interim head coach for the remainder of the season. Fans seem to think that with a proper team Keefe could help them make the Stanley Cup playoffs and that he never stood a chance with Toronto.

This leads me to think that maybe other teams are seeing Sheldon Keefe as a potential prospect as well, such as the San Jose Sharks and the Seattle Kraken who also fired their coaches at the end of the season.

Hours after the incident had occurred Sheldon Keefe posted a video where he was thanking the Toronto Maple Leaf's for his time with the team. Keefe also stated that he admits not pushing his team harder in the playoffs and that he knew he could have done better but failed to do so. Keefe went on to say that he didn't know what his future held but that he was going to spend the present moment with his family as it was long overdue.

The New Jersey Devils are considering several candidates for the time being including Craig Berube and Edmonton Oilers former head coach, Jay Woodcroft. The Devils have not made a final decision yet. We shall have to wait and see who they decide to bring on as a head coach.
