The second round series against the Carolina Hurricanes has been phenomenal for the New York Rangers. "He's world-class. He's done a great job."
Shesterkin's numbers are off the charts as he had 47 shots against and stop 45 for a .957 save percentage. This is the second night in a row where the Hurricanes have outshot the Rangers by almost a two to one margin and yet through seven playoff games, he has won all 7 with a goals against of 2.01 and a save percentage of .935.
Shesterkin's play, and numbers continue to dazzle fans
The 28 year old netminder continues to pile up accolades during these playoffs And even during the second-half of the season after having a rough start in December in January. After the All Star break, Shesterkin settled down And went on a tear down the stretch and into the postseason. After tonight's win, Shesterkin is now tied with Rangers legend goaltender Mike Richter with seven games In a row.
He's also the first goaltender in Rangers history to have 45 saves in a back-to-back playoff game.
It's safe to say he is having the time of his life in the NHL now and with the Rangers continuing to dominate the Hurricanes while the opposition continues to make critical mistakes better costing them these games it's quite likely that this could be a very quick series even though most pundits and all betting sites felt it was going to be a long slog.
