Former New York Rangers forward Barclay Goodrow reveals he was surprised to learn that the organization had placed him on waivers.

31-year old forward Barclay Goodrow is set to make his first appearance back at Madison Square Garden on Thursday night after things got ugly between him and the New York Rangers.

During the beginning of the 2024 offseason the New York Rangers bought out the remainder of Goodrow's contract, ultimately leading him to be claimed by San Jose Sharks.

It was no secret that Goodrow was unhappy with the New York Rangers as Larry Brooks of The New York Posts reported that there was a good chance that Goodrow included the Sharks on his 15-team no-trade list.

However, with Goodrow now fully committed to the San Jose Sharks and ready to face his former team, he recently opened up about how he felt when he heard the news:

Barclay Goodrow on how things ended with #NYR:

«It was just a surprise. I was never given any inclination or whatever that I wouldn't be back with the team and that happened. That was a while ago, I've tried to move past it. We're here and excited to be with San Jose.»

Despite all the rumours indicating Barclay Goodrow is upset with the New York Rangers and the organization, he seems to be embracing his new role as he was just moved to the first line.

Here at Sharks practice, former #NYR Barclay Goodrow is skating on the top line with Macklin Celebrini and Tyler Toffoli.

Somewhere, Gerard Gallant is smiling and nodding.

Through 17 games, the 31-year-old forward has managed to tally two goals and two points while averaging 14:52 minutes per game.
