Brennan Othmann releases an unexpected statement towards the Rangers organization
Brennan Othmann was interviewed after Prospect Development Camp, as he made a bold statement about his NHL future.
Othmann still feels he has something to prove in the NHL, as a 1st round draft pick in 2021.
Othmann's purpose at camp is to not only to make the Rangers lineup in 2024-2025 but to learn from his short stint in New York:
«My biggest goal is to prove people wrong, to be honest with you,» Othmann said. «I think a lot of people this past year have lost a little bit of faith and belief in my capabilities. I'm just ready to prove people wrong, and I'm going to keep doing that. I'm excited to do that.»
«I'm always excited to throw on a Ranger jersey, whether it's for practice or for games,» he said. «I want to play for the fans, I want to play for the city. It's an amazing city to play for. I was here watching the playoffs, and it's just an unbelievable atmosphere. Who wouldn't want to play here, right? To make the team, that's my goal this summer and moving forward.»
Othmann is training in prospect development camp to prepare for September, where he is prepared to show GM Chris Drury and Coach Peter Laviolette that he's ready for the big time.
The 21-year-old forward was a big contributor in Hartford AHL last season, scoring 21 goals and 49 points in 67 games with the Wolfpack, only fourth on the team in games, as Brett Berard was ahead of him with 25.
His statements and play in the AHL lately, prove he's ready for another shot in the NHL and perhaps since the Rangers didn't sign another top-six forward, could he find a spot on a line with Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider?
