It's been revealed that over the past several weeks, the New York Rangers have attempted to trade away disappointing former first round draft pick Kappo Kakko.

It's clear that the Rangers are wanting to move on from him as he has not settled into the team and become the player that he was touted to be. He was selected by the Rangers in 2019 and he was the 2nd overall choice that year. Over his five seasons with the team, he's only managed to score 18 goals and had 40 points and was a + 12 in 2022.

It's likely he will need a change of scenery and the Rangers have dangled him in front of different teams in hopes that they would take him good the rangers went even further as recently they signed him to a one year $2.4 million contract as this would give teams cost certainty for at least next year and may try to work on him and see if he can become better.

Drury has made it clear to the fan base that he is not running back the team as it was this year even though it had won a record 55 games in the regular season along with the presidents trophy and making it to the Eastern Conference finals.

He recently placed Barclay Goodrow on waivers and has hinted on the idea of trading Rangers captain Jacob Trouba all in the idea of opened cap space and signing other players. The only issue is that those players are now with other teams and the well is beginning to dry up.

There's still plenty of summer to go and anything can happen between now and early October and it's likely this roster will look very different next year.
