There comes a point in the schedule when a team needs to batten down and be ready to play against many division rivals as teams begin to enter the final stretch of the season.
The Rangers have had a seesaw like season with a hot start and then a cooling period just prior to the All-Star break.
The Rangers have been heating up once again since and now will be facing several heated rivalries that will help make or break their position in the standings.
According to Forever Blueshirts, the team has 28 games remaining in their schedule and out of those 28 games 13 will be against major division rivals including the Devils, Hurricanes, Flyers and the Penguins.
These games are like 3-point wins if the Rangers can come out on top as they will continue to put distance between the bottom dwelling teams and the bubble teams.
They will also be facing the Columbus Blue Jackets which means they'll be facing 15 teams in all from the Metro division.
The Rangers are currently holding a six game-winning streak and have been 7-2-1 in their last 10 kid with a record of 35-16-3 and 73 points this has been a solid rebound since December.
With the trade deadline on the horizon and indications showing the team willing to make some moves to reinforce their lines, I would expect the Rangers to finish as the top seed in the Metro division and put themselves in a great spot for the playoffs.
