Last season, the New York Rangers decided to part ways with forward Filip Chytil, as part of a package deal sending him to Vancouver, with Victor Mancini, and a 1st-round draft pick for JT Miller. Now he's making GM Chris Drury look foolish this season in a Canucks uniform.

The former Rangers forward has already shown Chris Drury the error of his ways in the Canucks first regular-season game against the Calgary Flames.
Chytil would put his name on the scoresheet twice, scoring two goals against their Pacific Division rivals.
His efforts put the nail in the coffin of the Flames' hopes, who lost the game 5-1 to the Canucks.

Filip Chytil Set to Prove Chris Drury Wrong in 2025-26

Gemmer Karstens-Smith of the Toronto Star would report on the forward's productive first game for the Canucks. The theme for this season for the injury-plagued Chytil? Taking his game to the next step.
"For the first time in more than six months, Filip Chytil played a regular-season NHL game in more on Thursday. He wasted no time making an impact. The 26-year-old Czech centre scored twice, helping his Vancouver Canucks open their season with a 5-1 thumping of the Calgary Flames."-Karstens-Smith

He's had plenty of issues dealing with concussions during his time in New York, and to many people, it's defined his entire career; he's looking to move past that.
"«I just want to be the best version of myself, coming to the rink every day, work on the details on the ice and making myself a better player. So this was the first game, and there is still room to work on so many things, so I can be happy until midnight that we won, and tomorrow is another day where we have to work hard.»-Chytil

The Czech-born forward was a key contributor that night, scoring once off a rebound from goalie Dustin Wolf and contributing another goal off the rush against the Flames.
"«In that moment, you just go, don't overthink it. Just that was the chance. I saw that the shot landed on his tape. So I was in speed, so I keep skating and he found me. And yeah, it was a nice pass.»-Chytil

This could be a chance for Chytil to change the narrative of his career around and prove he's much more than what pundits and naysayers have said about him beforehand.
He has 2 points in 1 game (1-1).
