It's been several days since the New York Rangers and the Vancouver Canucks made the trade to re acquire JT Miller to the Big Apple and it appears that former Rangers center Filip Chytil has received a ringing endorsement from his head coach Rick Tocchet.

One last time. Thanks for the years We'll miss you Filip Chytil:

The Canucks have been busy on the trade front over the past week as they made two deals one with the Rangers an one with their arch rival the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Tocchet feels O'Connor and Chytil will be good players for the Canucks

"I don't want to overstate it, but I think Chytil and Drew O'Connor, the speed and their willingness to take the puck in the middle on a rush, it's a little breath of fresh air," Rick Tocchet said. "When you see he'll take that puck, he goes in the middle of the ice and that's when things happen. Just adding those two guys has helped our rush game. You can see (assistant coach) Yogi (Svejkovsky) - we're smiling, because that's the stuff we need." Rick Tocchet

The frustration had reached a boiling point between the Vancouver organization and JT Miller along with star forward Elias Pettersson as both players were unable to resolve their differences and force Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin to break up his core.
When I asked Filip Chytil what he thought of the Rogers Arena crowd, his face lit up. "It was great, just was unbelievable." He has a lot of good things to say about the Canucks after just two games.

Chytil seemed to need a change of scenery as well as he had uncertainty in his availability either to injuries or the Rangers not playing him as often as he'd like.
The Canucks will certainly use his services and he will get plenty of ice time as he has big shoes to fill.

Rangers getting ready for two week break

The Rangers are preparing for their two week break as the NHL is
shutting down for the Four Nations face off. This will give the team time to evaluate what has happened over the past number of months of the season along with their direction they'd like to go as the March trade deadline approaches.
The Rangers are currently sitting five points out of a playoff spot and it may be difficult to achieve one of those spots as other teams ahead of them will continue to win their games.
Some teams will fade and if the Rangers can surge it's likely they will buy at the deadline as much as cell as general manager Chris Drury would like to continue to remake his team for next year.
