Former New York Rangers forward Tyler Pitlick has signed a new contract with the Boston Bruins at the start of the NHL season.

Pitlick who's an UFA has just signed a PTO with the Bruins AHL affiliate teams, the Providence Bruins, and there some speculation that he just might end up making it to the NHL some time this season.
While the 32-year old forward is currently on a PTO with the Providence Bruins, he seems to be gaining a lot of interest from other organizations. So if things don't work out with the Bruins, another chance should be waiting for him.
Just last season Pitlick played 34 games for the New York Rangers, and while doing so he managed to only tally four points, one goal and three assists with a plus/minus of -6. However throughout his 10-year professional career he made 420 NHL appearances scoring a total of 109 points (53 goals, 53 assists).
Back in February of 2023, Pitlick was reassigned to the Rangers AHL affiliate team, the Hartford Wolfpack, where he ironically scored his first goal against the Bruins in November of 2023.
In addition to his extensive NHL experience, Pitlick has also played in 196 career AHL contests with the Bakersfield Condors and Oklahoma City Barons. The 6'2» forward has recorded 85 career points in the AHL (28 g, 57 a).

Pitlick has also suited up for 31 career Calder Cup Playoff games, all with the Barons. He recorded 13 points (4 g, 9 a) while helping the club reach the Western Conference Final in both 2012 and 2013.

Pitlick was selected in the second round, 31st overall, by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He joined the Rangers as an unrestricted free agent on July 1st, 2023.

Here's the latest scouting report on Tyler Pitlick according to Sportsforecaster:
The hard-working forward, now in his 30s, can protect the puck but has limited offensive acumen, which limits the ways a team can use him. He is solid defensively, but not elite. Injuries have also been a major problem for him.

Hopefully things work out for Pitlick and he can return to the NHL with the Bruins, and everyone here at NY Rangers Insider wishes him nothing but the best.
